A graduate from Baylor University, David Phelps is credited among today's most spectacular voices. Phelps gained acclaim during his eight years with the Gaither Vocal Band, before leaving to resume his solo career with a deal on Word Records. His seemingly endless vocal range, which extends more than three octaves, coupled with his gift for communicating a song, has grown to echo off the walls of Carnegie Hall, and vibrate the chandeliers in the White House and in countless halls and churches around the world
As a member of the Gaither Vocal Band, David has received Dove Awards, Grammy Awards, and multiple platinum-selling projects. As a soloist, he received 2009 Dove Award nominations for Male Vocalist of the Year and Long Form Video for the Christmas DVD, O Holy Night to add to his many awards and honors.
Beyond his obvious technical skill, what sets Phelps apart is the heart and emotional weight he brings to each performance. More than just a great singer, he has the ability to really connect with a lyric and convey every nuance of feeling in a great song.
While studying music at Baylor, David met Lori, who has been his wife and rock-solid partner in his career for more than two decades. The couple has four great kids – Callie, Maggie Beth, Grant and Coby.
